QUALITY CONTROL LAB TECHNICIAN

This is a great entry level job for someone interested in Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance or Product Testing.

Prepare graphics for testing to OEM automotive standards.

Evaluation of physical and appearance properties using lab equipment such as:

  • Atlas CI5000 Accelerated Weathering Machine(s)
  • Humidity Chamber·
  • Gravelometer
  • Laboratory Scales
  • Gloss meter
  • Colorimeter (X-rite)
  • Spectrophotometer
  • Laboratory Freezer
  • Tabor Abrasion Unit
  • Laboratory Testing Ovens
  • Instron 3345 Tensile Testing Machine

Perform maintenance and calibration for all laboratory equipment.

Use Microsoft Office to record and report results.

Must be able to read. Will be trained to understand test plans and customer specification(s), such as, SAE J400, SAE 2527, ISO 8510-2, ASTM D1000, ASTM D 882, and paint specification related to exterior graphics.

Must be able to discriminate colors (Successful annual completion of Farnsworth– Munsell 100 Hue Color Test and Ishihara Test for color blindness.)

Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge of IATF 16949 and screen printing is a plus.

Must be able to work overtime if needed.

MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS ASSISTANT

Kay Automotive Graphics has been a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of high quality graphics for over 50 years. Our products include decorative exterior decals, 3D badging, pillar blackouts, door sill protectors, bumper protectors and many other functional and protective films. We are a preferred supplier to the world’s largest automotive manufacturers, as well as Tier 1 and Tier 2 OEM suppliers.

Our facility is currently undergoing an expansion, and when complete, will give us a total of 230,000 feet of clean, air conditioned manufacturing space. We run three shifts and our process currently requires the use of long stroke and automatic printing presses, batch ovens, die cutting presses (including rotary and thermal), and numerous other pieces of equipment.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Order parts and supplies for machinery, equipment and inventory; Research obsolescence or replacement parts as needed; locate parts, contact Vendors; obtain quotes; initiate a PO, receive parts, and prepare invoices for signature.
  • May meet with vendors to negotiate prices for tools, parts and services related to the Maintenance Department.
  • Use Microsoft Office to prepare memos, work schedules, correspondence, graphs and reports as required.
  • Maintain and process Maintenance Department employee time cards in ADP; maintain a schedule of approved time off.
  • Maintain key measurables to meet the requirements of our IATF Certification; collect and analyze data, prepare reports and graphs, participate in audits.
  • Maintain the Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedule.
  • Participate in the review and processing of corrective maintenance Work Orders to validate or modify.
  • Track equipment repairs and document work status from beginning to end.
  • Create new and revise existing Department Procedures as needed.
  • Reserve tools or rental equipment as requested.
  • Create and maintain library of equipment and building warranties

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Key competencies include a commitment to excellence and personal accountability. Must be able to use Microsoft Office proficiently and have the ability to learn other programs that will be used on a daily basis. Must also have excellent communication skills, including business writing and verbal communication skills. Any experience with “Maintenance” would be extremely helpful.

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

We will train you to:

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Assist with the installation of new equipment.
  • Repair equipment and machines; i.e. printing presses, die cutting presses, slitter/sheeters, batch ovens, etc.

Qualifications and Skills:

The qualified maintenance candidate will have at least 2 years of proven experience performing job duties similar to those listed above, a working knowledge of common computer applications and will own their own tools or be willing to purchase them through payroll deduction. You must have a valid Driver’s License.

Requirements include the ability to stand, walk, crawl under equipment, climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.

MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN

Entry level light industrial position in a clean and climate controlled facility.  All training provided!

  • A choice of three shifts
  • Starting pay is $11.00 per hour ($12.46 after one year)

Affiliate Openings:


Our newest facility, KPMF USA, includes a 63″ web coating machine that has been built for power, speed and flexibility. It features a reverse roll and knife over roll coating head. Capabilities include single sided coating using a choice of several processes, multi-zone drying and in-line lamination. This facility is located adjacent to Kay Automotive Graphics in Lake Orion, MI.


MACHINE OPERATOR (CONVERTING) – 1st/2nd/3rd Shift

  • Evaluate orders and specifications to determine set-up configurations.
  • Set up and operate the coating machine line which includes unwind, coating station, accumulator, drying oven and rewind.
  • Make adjustments to the coating line to maintain machine performance and product quality; may include changing idler types, tread up configuration and operational cycles.
  • Keep the coater running to produce a high volume of adhesive and topcoat product lines.
  • Safely use an overhead crane to move material.

SLITTER/REWINDER OPERATOR – 1st/2nd/3rd Shift

  • Operate the turret slitter, rewinder to cut vinyl and urethane.
  • Make adjustments to the slitter to maintain machine performance and product quality; may include changing the rollers, blades, speed and tension.
  • Safely use an overhead crane to move material.
